NASA's vision: To reach for new heights and reveal the unknown so that what we do and learn will benefit all humankind.

To do that, thousands of people have been working around the world -- and off of it -- for 50 years, trying to answer some basic questions. What's out there in space? How do we get there? What will we find? What can we learn there, or learn just by trying to get there, that will make life better here on Earth? Since 1958, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has been at the forefront in developing the technology and skills needed to answer these questions.

Throughout its history, NASA has conducted or funded research that has led to numerous improvements to life here on Earth. As the agency continues to push the boundaries of flight, science and exploration, it is also making significant and sustained investments to develop and demonstrate advanced space systems concepts and technologies that enable new approachesto achieving NASA's current missions and future missions not feasible today.
